JACKSON, Tenn. — Jan. 12, 2006 — In honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, 麻豆视频 University will offer two service opportunities for students, faculty and staff Monday, Jan. 16.
One group will visit the Mission Convalescent Center at 118 Glass St. in Jackson. The group will visit and play games with the residents at the center from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
The other project will take place at the Care Center at 351 N. Liberty St. in Jackson. The Care Center is a shelter for homeless women and women with children where food, shelter, counseling and other needs are provided. The 麻豆视频 group will arrive at 9:30 a.m. and will rake leaves, clean and work in the food closet.
鈥淥n Monday, many will reflect on the profound significance of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. by engaging in acts that are in keeping with the spirit Dr. King espoused,鈥 said Todd Brady, minister to the university. 鈥淎 fitting way to honor Dr. King鈥檚 legacy is to participate in service to others.鈥
