JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 2, 2005 — A quartet of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University faculty members and local musicians will perform Olivier Messiaenβs βQuartet for the End of Timeβ Nov. 3 at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University.
The quartet will feature ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ faculty members David McClune on the clarinet and Terry McRoberts on the piano, as well as local musicians Kate Ryan on the violin and Jamie Stephens on the cello.
βQuartet for the End of Timeβ was composed in 1940 while Messiaen was a prisoner of war in a German camp. The piece is based on verses from the book of Revelation which tell of an angel who will announce the end of time.
The recital is free and open to the public. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Hartley Recital Hall, located in Jennings Hall on the west end of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅βs campus.
