JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 24, 2003 — Keelan Cook and Laura Lee Moore, both senior public relations majors, were elected as Mr. and Miss Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ representing the Class of 2004. Cook, from Leoma, Tenn., has served as president for the Student Government Association for two years and is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Moore, from Stanton, Tenn., is involved in the Student Public Relations Society and teaches ballet.
"We are so pleased to have Keelan and Laura Lee elected," said Kimberly Thornbury, dean of students. "They will be excellent representatives for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University."
"Both Keelan and Laura Lee are phenomenal examples of servant-hearted, selfless individuals," said Neal Rager, coordinator of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Student Leadership Development. "They always take time for people and their caring attitude is the best reason they were chosen to represent the Class of 2004."
Mr. and Ms. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ candidates are nominated by senators of the SGA. The nominees are placed on the ballet along with the candidates for executive officers of the SGA and are voted on by the entire student body.
"Keelan has done a wonderful job of representing Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the past two years," said Tracie Holden, senior journalism major. "Both he and Laura Lee are involved in so many activities on and off the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ campus and have done so much for the student body and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University."
As Mr. and Miss Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Cook and Moore will announce the homecoming court during Homecoming Week. They will also represent Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University at various functions and alumni meetings throughout the year.
