JACKSON, Tenn. — April 16, 2003 — Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Department of Engineering will host a joint open house 1:00-2:30 p.m. on April 25 in the Penick Academic Complex. Brief remarks and presentations will be made at 1:30. Tours and refreshments will be available in both departments throughout the afternoon.
"These open houses are an opportunity to visit two important academic program areas and see first-hand the exciting laboratory and teaching environments being enhanced by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's generous benefactors," said Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ president David S. Dockery. "The work being conducted by the faculty and students in these departments is representative of the academic excellence evident throughout Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University."
The Department of Chemistry and Physics recently received a major piece of research equipment from Vanderbilt University, made possible by the Miller Charitable Foundation and other donors.
The Department of Engineering has received grants from Maytag, TBDN and Dana-Plumley, along with significant backing from the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce.
