JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 7, 2002 — A group of social work students from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University will host a Child Abuse Awareness Seminar on Monday, Nov. 25 from six to eight p.m. in the Coburn Dining Room in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Student Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Building.
The featured speaker at the seminar is DeLaine Bottoms, associate director of the Carl Perkins Center. She will address the specifics of child abuse and how to recognize hidden signs of abuse in children.
The seminar is free and open to the public. Students and faculty members from Lane University, Lambuth University, Jackson State Community College in addition to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ have been invited. School teachers and daycare workers who teach young children are also encouraged to attend.
