ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Art Gallery will feature β€œΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ in the Rockies” bronze sculpture

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 16, 2002 — The work of seven ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University students is the focus of the ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Art Gallery’s upcoming exhibit, β€œΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ in the Rockies.” Various bronze sculptures by Drew Porter, Rebecca Philips, Kelly Barron, Ryan Schunemann, Brian and Amanda Bain, Allison Nolen, and Rob Alsobrook will be displayed beginning Monday, Sept. 23.

The students, accompanied by Lee Benson, professor of art, and his family, spent one month of their summer in the mountains of Gypsum, Colo., on artist Bill Walden’s ranch learning the art of bronze casting as well as the art of mountain life.

β€œWe had no electricity, great food, and nature’s beauty all around us,” said Rebecca Philips, junior art major. β€œIt was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.”

The show will run through October 4 and the gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A reception will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. in the gallery where students will share their experiences from the trip. The community is invited to attend.
