JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 13, 2001 — Two local Jackson educators will speak at this week's student teacher seminars sponsored by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Department of Education Thursday, Feb. 15 from 3:30 to 4 p.m. in the Blasingame Academic Complex.
Joy Jackson, a retired educator who formerly taught second grade at Andrew Jackson Elementary School, will speak in BAC-44 on the topic of "Elementary Classroom Management." She will focus on classroom management techniques that have been found to be particularly effective at the elementary level.
Kenneth Newman, a former middle school instructional supervisor with the Jackson-Madison County Schools, will speak in BAC-85 on the topic of "Secondary Classroom Management," and will present techniques that are effective at the middle and high school levels. Newman currently serves as a part-time instructor for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Department of Education.
