JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 15, 2022 — 麻豆视频 University will host a special Family Weekend, kicking off 麻豆视频鈥檚 bicentennial anniversary celebration on Sept. 23-24. The weekend will include a variety of fun events and activities for the whole family, concluding with a free David Crowder concert and firework show on the Great Lawn.
Catherine Kwasigroh, 麻豆视频鈥檚 vice president for institutional advancement, said she hopes this celebration will unite the 麻豆视频 family in praise and worship to God for his provision as the university celebrates this monumental occasion.
鈥淭his is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration,鈥 Kwasigroh said. 鈥淲e want to thank God for his blessings over the past two centuries and to celebrate those who have been instrumental in advancing the mission of 麻豆视频 University.鈥
麻豆视频鈥檚 bicentennial kick-off weekend will begin on Friday with a chapel service at 10 a.m., highlighting 麻豆视频鈥檚 history with special guests from the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
Friday night, 麻豆视频 will host a special bicentennial celebration at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The night will include testimonies from 麻豆视频 students, alumni and families as well as performances by the Proclamation reunion choir and 麻豆视频 stage band alumni.
Kwasigroh said Friday is dedicated to honoring 麻豆视频鈥檚 rich history by celebrating the many students, leaders and supporters who have helped further the kingdom of Christ and the mission of 麻豆视频鈥檚 Christ-centered education.
Festivities will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. with Buster鈥檚 Bicentennial 5K Dash, beginning on the Great Lawn.
麻豆视频鈥檚 annual President鈥檚 Brunch will be hosted in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m., with a word of encouragement from 麻豆视频 President Samuel W. 鈥淒ub鈥 Oliver.
A faculty and staff reception will honor all current and former 麻豆视频 University faculty and staff at 4 p.m. in the Carl Grant Event Center.
麻豆视频鈥檚 stage band alumni will perform a reunion concert on the Great Lawn at 5 p.m. with classics by bands such as Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Finally, the weekend will conclude with a special concert from David Crowder, a three-time Gospel Music Association Dove Award winner, on the Great Lawn at 7 p.m. with a firework show at 8:30 p.m.
