JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 12, 2002 — Linda Barber, associate professor of nursing at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University, was the recent recipient of the universityβs Honorary Alumni Award at the 2002 Homecoming Alumni Awards Luncheon held Feb. 9. A member of the ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University faculty for 27 years, Barber has also served in critical care units, emergency rooms and doctorsβ offices.
Receiving her bachelor of science degree and master of science in curriculum and instruction degree from the University of Memphis, Barber has also served as a volunteer for many programs, including Habitat for Humanity, Jackson Area Hospice and the American Cancer Society. She has also helped train volunteers for the Jackson Area Hospice. Her services at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ include being a member on several committees, such as the Athletic Committee and the Student Aid Committee. What is most notable about her though is her enthusiasm and support for the athletes, showing up to almost every game to show her ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ spirit.
βLinda Barber is outstanding in her genuine support of students,β said Susan Jacob, dean of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅βs School of Nursing. βShe is committed to taking an active part in their lives.β
The recipients of the Honorary Alumni Award are chosen for their outstanding service to the university but must not have attended ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University.
