JACKSON, Tenn. — March 16, 2016 — ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University will host βCollege to Career: Education and Professionals Expo,β a recruiting opportunity for area employers, March 17.
The event is sponsored by the Vocatio Center for Life Calling and Career, the School of Educationβs teacher education program and ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅βs business, nursing, computer science, engineering and social work programs.
Undergraduate and graduate education students and professional studies majors, in addition to students in shortage areas such as math, biology, physics, chemistry, Spanish and teaching English as a second language, have been invited to attend. About 150 students have registered for the event.
βOn one day and in one place, ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ students have the opportunity to jumpstart their careers in pursuit of their calling to a myriad of vocations,β said Jacqueline Taylor, director of the Vocatio Center for Life Calling and Career. βUltimately, we want our students to have a competitive edge in the job market, and βCollege to Careerβ provides access to over 40 of the best local, regional and national employers to ensure that our current students, upcoming May graduates and alumni will have that advantage.β
Employers scheduled to participate include the Jackson-Madison County School System, Pictsweet, Northwestern Mutual, Leaders Credit ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅, LifeWay Christian Resources, General Cable, West Tennessee Healthcare, Enterprise Holdings, Mid-South Financial Group (Mass Mutual), Aflac, First Bank, TBDN, Stanley, Black and Decker, Teach for America, C.B. Richard Ellis, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, PhysAssist Scribes, Town of Collierville, Edward Jones, and several school systems across West Tennessee.
The event will take place from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Bowld Student Commons.
