ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Christmas opera will bring legendary story to life

JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 16, 2001 — ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University's Department of Music will present Gian Carl Menotti’s Christmas Opera β€œAmahl and the Night Visitors” Friday, Nov. 30 – Sunday, Dec. 2 in the Powell Theatre in the Penick Academic Complex on ΒιΆΉΚΣơ’s Jackson campus.

The title character is sung by 11-year-old Blass Hollingsworth, while the role of his mother will be performed by ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ associate voice professor Georgia Wellborn. Performing the parts of The Three Kings will be adjunct professor Don Martin, professor of music Terry McRoberts, and university professor of music Joseph Blass. Assistant professor Paul Munson will perform a cameo role as the page.

The performances for Friday and Saturday will begin at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday’s matinee will start at 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children, and $3 for ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ students. For more information, contact the Department of Music at (731) 661-5345.
