Family members, alumni to visit 麻豆视频 campus for Family Weekend 2012

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 27, 2012 — 麻豆视频 University alumni and family members of 麻豆视频 University students will visit campus Sept. 28-30 for Family Weekend 2012.

鈥淭his weekend will provide all aspects of the 麻豆视频 University family the opportunity to come on campus and see the campus at its best,鈥 said Josh Clarke, 麻豆视频鈥檚 director of alumni relations. 鈥淚 am excited about another opportunity for our alums to be involved with our current students to share their memories of their time at 麻豆视频 and see how they can continue to be involved with their alma mater.鈥

As part of Family Weekend, parents and siblings can attend classes with their 麻豆视频 students, attend optional workshops and visit their students鈥 rooms.

In addition, for the first time, Family Weekend will feature 麻豆视频 Night on the Great Lawn Sept. 29 from 6-8 p.m. The evening will include family activities, live music, food and 麻豆视频 merchandise for sale and a fireworks display.

The Red Bus Project, an initiative of the organization Show Hope, will also be on campus that night. The Red Bus Project is a double decker bus that serves as a mobile thrift store to raise money for orphan care.

Other events that are part of the weekend include:

  • a chapel service at 10 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel with Walton Padelford, university professor of economics.

  • a Make-a-Wish cookout, to support the Make-a-Wish Foundation, from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Bowld Commons and the Grace Quad, sponsored by the ladies of Chi Omega and the Aramark staff.

  • Movie on the Lawn, showing 鈥淏rave鈥 from 8-10 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Watters Quad.

  • Friday night sibling sleepover Sept. 28, when siblings may stay overnight in the room of their brother or sister.

  • brunch with President David S. Dockery at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 in the Carl Grant Events Center.
