JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 4, 2010 — ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University is one of four institutions in Tennessee included in the new βCollege Access and Opportunity Guideβ that highlights colleges and universities committed to academic rigor and accessibility.
The book includes profiles of 284 colleges that are committed to serving low-income, first-generation college-bound students.
βWe are extremely thankful for the recognition of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University among the 284 top colleges in the United States emphasizing access and opportunity,β ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ President David S. Dockery said. βTo be listed among Vanderbilt, Rhodes and Belmont as one of only four outstanding institutions in the state of Tennessee is remarkable.β
The guide specifically highlights such ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ initiatives as the Rising High School Senior Program, minority student scholarships and preview days, the Hundley Center for Academic Enrichment, the Keystone Program (where specific students facing serious academic uncertainties receive specialized help) and other resources.
βThe recognition underscores our commitment to top-flight academics for an ever-widening constituency of students,β Dockery said.
