JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 17, 2009 — The Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta at 麻豆视频 University has won the Best Chapter Award for the seventh straight year from the national Phi Alpha Theta organization.
Phi Alpha Theta is a history honor society. As part of the award, the 麻豆视频 library will receive $250 to purchase history books.
Because of its seven straight years of winning the Best Chapter Award, the 麻豆视频 chapter for the second straight year also earned the Nels A. Cleven Award.
鈥淚t is a significant distinction considering the tremendous time and effort required to maintain a chapter of this caliber,鈥� wrote Graydon A. Tunstall, executive director of the national Phi Alpha Theta organization, in a letter to Stephen Carls, 麻豆视频 history professor and Phi Alpha Theta adviser. 鈥淵ou and your students have shown such dedication to the organization and exemplify the mission statement of Phi Alpha Theta or promoting the study of history.鈥�
Over the past year, Phi Alpha Theta chapter members at 麻豆视频 have built bog bridges at Pinson Mounds State Archeological Park, served as ushers for 麻豆视频鈥檚 annual Carls-Schwerdfeger History Lecture Series and participated in a formal French Christmas dinner at Carls鈥� house, among other activities.
