JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 2, 2009 — Enrollment at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University for the fall semester is a record-high 4,050 students β a 7.4 percent jump from a year ago and the 12th straight year for an enrollment increase at the university.
Itβs the first time ever for ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅βs enrollment to exceed 4,000 students.
The 2009 figure tops last yearβs fall enrollment of 3,770 by 280. The latest enrollment figures show a 105 percent increase over the 1,972 students enrolled in the fall of 1996, when ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University President David S. Dockery began his tenure.
βWe are thankful to God for a record enrollment and for each student represented by these numbers,β Dockery said. βWe will pray that their influence for the good of church and society, in accordance with the universityβs mission, will be multiplied for years to come.β
The enrollment for 2009 includes 2,857 undergraduate students, compared to 2,648 last year, and 1,193 graduate students, compared to 1,122 last year.
Of the undergraduate students, a record-high 545 are traditional undergraduate freshmen. This yearβs enrollment includes more than 1,200 new students in all of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅βs various programs.
