Â鶹ÊÓƵ welcomes three new couples as missionaries-in-residence

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 31, 2001 — Â鶹ÊÓƵ University will hold a reception welcoming this year’s missionaries-in-residence Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m.

Three missionary couples working for the International Mission Board and their families are serving the university this year while on their respective furloughs. They are: Tim and Dorcas Patterson - Mexico, Eddie and Myrla Pate - North Africa, and Tim and Joan Gillihan - Kenya.

The Missionary-in-Residence program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ is designed to connect Southern Baptist missionaries with students and area churches in order to provide first-hand exposure to global missions.

While on furlough for the academic year, the missionaries teach missions courses, participate in the annual Global Opportunities Week, conduct seminars for students considering careers in full-time missions and become a part of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ family. They are also available to speak in area churches and associations as they share with fellow Christians what God is doing in the area of the world where they serve.

To invite the Missionaries-in-Residence to speak in your church or for more information about the program, contact the Office of Church Services at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University at (731) 661-5160.
