JACKSON, Tenn. — July 31, 2001 — More than 180 graduate and nontraditional students from the Germantown and Jackson campuses will graduate in commencement exercises at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University, Saturday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on the Jackson campus. This is the universityβs second year to hold an August graduation, and the largest to date β 40 more than last year.
Keynote speaker will be James W. Ayers, chairman of First Bank and the Ayers Asset Management Co. Ayers, a trustee of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅, will speak on βBuilding a Foundation for Success.β As the founder of the Ayers Scholars Program which financially assists graduates of Decatur County to attend college, Ayers has helped many students since its inception, including six ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ students to attend college.
A brunch will be held at 8:30 a.m., prior to the graduation, for the graduates and their families. Degrees that will be awarded included the bachelorβs in organizational leadership (B.S.O.L.), the masterβs of business administration (M.B.A.) masterβs of education (M Ed.), masterβs of arts in education (M.A. Ed.) and the education specialist (Ed. S.)
