JACKSON, Tenn.June 27, 2008 — A record-high 520 new traditional undergraduate students – most of them freshmen – registered for fall semester classes at ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ University June 27, surpassing last year’s mark of 506 students.

β€œWe are extremely thankful for each of these new students, who have come to ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ from this region, from across all parts of the United States and from several countries,” ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ President David S. Dockery said. β€œWe applaud Rich Grimm, Robbie Graves and the entire enrollment services team for their hard work.”

Dockery said the record number of students registering was especially meaningful this year, as ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ is in the process of recovering from a Feb. 5 tornado that caused more than $40 million in damage to the campus and resulted in the demolition of two entire student housing complexes.

β€œIt is hard to believe where we are in light of where we were 20 weeks ago,” Dockery said.

Construction continues on 14 new student housing buildings arranged in four new student housing complexes, and ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ expects all 14 buildings to be complete by the beginning of the fall semester.
