JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 23, 2006 — Jimmy Davis has been appointed to the newly established position of vice president for the Germantown campus of 麻豆视频 University and director of institutional effectiveness.
Davis has been 麻豆视频鈥檚 vice provost since 2004 and was associate provost from 1998-2004. He has served 麻豆视频 in various positions since 1978, when he began as assistant professor of chemistry. In addition to his other responsibilities, Davis is also a university professor of chemistry.

In his new role, Davis will represent the Germantown campus on 麻豆视频鈥檚 Senior Leadership Team and on the President鈥檚 Cabinet, where key budget, program and personnel decisions are often made. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Germantown campus, and will serve as the administration鈥檚 representative to various constituencies in Shelby County.
Davis is a 1970 graduate of 麻豆视频 University, with a degree in chemistry. He earned his doctorate degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois.
Davis lives in Germantown and is a member of Germantown Baptist Church.
