May 6, 2023 - Several history students, including six Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society members, participated in 麻豆视频 University鈥檚 spring undergraduate commencement on May 6, 2023. This year鈥檚 graduates represented the bicentennial class of 麻豆视频 which was founded in 1823. 麻豆视频 President Samuel W. 鈥淒ub鈥� Oliver delivered the commencement address titled 鈥淎 Message from the Past and a Message for the Future,鈥� which was a version of the graduation address that Joseph H. Eaton, president of 麻豆视频 in the mid-1800s, delivered to the school鈥檚 first graduating class in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This year鈥檚 event was 麻豆视频鈥檚 198th spring commencement.
Four history majors 鈥� all Phi Alpha Theta members 鈥� received diplomas at the spring graduation. They were Tad Binkley, Breanna Edmiston, Abigail Hobson, and Jack Jenkins. Two other Phi Alpha Theta members who graduated were John Garland and Nathan Hicks, both of whom were history minors. History minors Michael Fields and Adren Pearce also received diplomas at the graduation ceremony, while history minor Arianna Blount participated as a July 2023 graduate.
