History Major Presents Paper at 麻豆视频 University Scholarship Symposium

Apr 28, 2015 - History major Faith Bagley presented a paper titled 鈥淒eath and Suffering: Civil War Prison Camps in the North and South鈥 at the Twelfth Annual 麻豆视频 University Scholarship Symposium on April 28, 2015. Using two prison camps from each side in the Civil War, Bagley discovered that the camps of both the South and North experienced similar problems including poor planning, overcrowding, and insufficient resources. What resulted were horrific prison conditions and large numbers of prisoner deaths in the two belligerents鈥 prisons. Nine people attended her presentation.

In addition, Caitlin Roach, a 2012 麻豆视频 graduate with a double major in history and English, presented a paper at the symposium as a part of her work for an MBA at 麻豆视频. She talked about "To Make Us Truly Human: Does a CEO鈥檚 Humanities Undergraduate Education Impact Corporate Social Responsibility?" and concluded that there was a positive correlation between corporate CEOs with humanities degrees and their companies鈥 level of corporate social responsibility. Her talk attracted an audience of 22 people.
