Phi Alpha Theta Gives Check to 麻豆视频 Library for Purchase of History Books

The Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society presented a prize check that it received from Phi Alpha Theta headquarters as a part of its 2013 Best Chapter Award to 麻豆视频 University鈥檚 library on November 12, 2013. The $250 in prize money paid for 13 books that chapter members selected for the library鈥檚 history collection. Delta-Psi has won 11 straight Best Chapter Awards.

Gracie Wise, president of the Delta-Psi chapter, gave the check to Library Director Anna Beth Morgan in a ceremony held near a special Civil War exhibit titled 鈥淏inding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African Americans in Civil War Medicine.鈥 Chapter Vice President Charles Snow and Dr. Stephen Carls, the chapter faculty advisor, also participated in the ceremony.

The 13 books that the prize money purchased include: Appomattox: Victory, Defeat, and Freedom at the End of the Civil War by Elizabeth R. Varon; Blood Sisters by Sarah Gristwood; Castlereagh by John Bew; The Collaboration: Hollywood鈥檚 Pact with Hitler by Ben Urwand; Henry Ford by Vincent Curico; Knights of the Golden Circle: Secret Empire, Southern Secession, Civil War by David C. Keehn; Landscapes of the Metropolis of Death by Otto Dov Kulka; Lincoln鈥檚 Tragic Pragmatism by John Burt; Margaret Thatcher: From Grantham to the Falklands by Charles Moore; The Men Who Lost America by Andrew Jackson O鈥橲haughnassy; The People鈥檚 Car by Bernhard Rieger; Saving Italy by Robert M. Edsel; Stalin鈥檚 Curse: Battling for Communism in War and Cold War by Robert Gellately.
