Three History Majors Are December Graduates

Three history majors were among the more than 300 students who graduated at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University’s commencement exercises on December 15, 2012. Charles Evans and Cale Little received their Bachelor of Arts degrees during the graduation ceremony, while David Conway, who also earned a BA degree, graduated in absentia. David was also the recipient of the fall semester Academic Excellence Medal in History. Dr. Claude Pressnell, President of the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association, gave the commencement address on “But the Greatest of These is Love.â€

History alumnus Mr. Jack Holmes and his wife Zan received a special honor during the graduation program, when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ President Dr. David Dockery presented them with Robert E. Craig Service Award for their faithful support over many years of the scholarship program and other endeavors at the university. Mr. Holmes, a Jackson attorney, was the recipient of the history department’s Fourth Annual History Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award in May, 2012. He was a member of Phi Alpha Theta and the Rutledge Honorary History Club while a student at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
