Before Â鶹ÊÓƵ: Monticello transferred to Â鶹ÊÓƵ from Santa Rosa Community College where he played two seasons. In 2010 as a sophomore, he was 3-2 with two saves in 14 appearances, including five starts. Monticello struck out 30 and walked just 13. Monticello prepped at Cardinal Newman (Calif.) High School where he helped lead his team to the 2007 NBL League Championship. As a senior, he was team captain, named first team all-league, first team all-empire, and all-star. He hit .440 with 15 RBI, five double, 13 runs and one home run.
