Department of Biology

Study the science of life and the One who authored it.

At Â鶹ÊÓƵ, the deeper you study life, the stronger your faith becomes — because understanding creation is the first step toward stewarding it well.

A man in glasses and a checked shirt shows a tray of seedlings to two young women in a greenhouse filled with various plants, as part of a Biology Department project. The women are attentively observing the tray.
Three people work together at a lab bench with scientific equipment and notes. One person instructs the others, who are focused on handling lab materials. Shelves with glassware and cabinets are visible in the background.

Ethos

Where Faith and Biology Unite

We are stewards of a creation we did not make — and studying it carefully is one of the most faithful things a person can do. At Â鶹ÊÓƵ, biology students develop the scientific foundation for medical school, graduate study, and research careers with a remarkable pre-health acceptance rate and undergraduate research opportunities that professional programs expect and respect. Our faculty walk pre-health students personally through the process of getting where they're headed, and every student conducts undergraduate research before they graduate. Faith and science don't compete here. They collaborate.
