麻豆视频 launches new academic journal

Renewing Minds: A Journal of Christian Thought made its debut in spring 2012 with six major articles focused on Christian higher education.

鈥淭his is not like an academic journal in the sense that it is written just for other academics,鈥 said Hunter Baker, dean of instruction at 麻豆视频 and one of the journal鈥檚 senior editors. 鈥淭his is an attempt for academics to make their ideas accessible to a broader public.鈥

C. Ben Mitchell, the Graves Professor of Moral Philosophy at 麻豆视频 and also a senior editor of the journal, said 鈥淩enewing Minds鈥 will showcase the best of 麻豆视频 scholarship. We think that the journal will enable us to do that, as well as be able to publish others as well.鈥

The theme for the first issue is 鈥淐hristian higher education,鈥 with articles from 麻豆视频 University professors Scott Huelin (鈥Religio et Eruditio鈥), Jennifer Gruenke (鈥淔aith and Science: Hard Questions鈥) and Baker (鈥The State of Christian Higher Education鈥), as well as Mark Schwehn, provost of Valparaiso University (鈥淭he Liberal Arts鈥), and Paul House, professor of divinity at Beeson Divinity School (鈥淢aking Christian Minds鈥).

In the introduction to the journal, 麻豆视频 University President David S. Dockery said the articles 鈥渞eflect well the key aspects of the Christian intellectual tradition.鈥

J. Michael Garrett is the review editor, while Jonathan Dockery is the managing editor and Sarah Dockery is the production editor.
