All-American...led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in scoring, assists, and steals during the 95-96
season...watching her play is like viewing a teaching tape with all out effort
and desire thrown in ...gifted by God's design, driven by true character,
and thankfully a Lady Bulldog by choice...driven to achieve the ultimate
athletic accomplishment-a national championship...was named All-TCAC for
the third consecutive season as well as being named to the NAIA Championship
All-Tournament team...has scored nearly 1,600 points in her three-year
career...has been named to the Dick Vitale's All-American team...named 1996
Player of the Year by College Sports Magazine...prepped at Bradford High
School where she not only earned Tennessee's Miss Basketball honors twice
but had her jersey retired as well.

Kasi Knott
5-8, SR, Bradford, TN, Guard, David Russell, High School Coach
Would have started last season at most universities in the country...battling
against two all-conference players for a staring position...has helped teammates
accomplish all-conference status by fighting for position...a great shooter...has
tremendous court presence...her desire and work ethic make her a pleasure
to coach...does not mind the pressure when the game is on the line...will
gladly step up for the Lady Dogs...the former Miss Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ prepped at Bradford
High School where she helped guide the 1993 team to a state championship.

Kelly Hayes
5-8, SR, Dover, TN, Guard, David Wallace, High School Coach
Earned All-American status in 1996...shares All-TCAC honors with Michelle
Street...established a new school record for Most Three-Pointers in a Season
with 122...tied a school record for Most Three- Pointers in a Game with 9...was
second on the Lady Bulldog squad in scoring and led the team in three-point
field goal percentage...a fighter who was quoted as saying "Don't worry,
Coach. We'll be back and I'll be playing" as she was led off the court with
a knee injury in the national tournament...Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's best outside shooter...her
defensive play has been a large factor in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's success...tremendous leader
in working with incoming young players...prepped at Stewart County High School
where she was All-District, All-Region, All-Mid-State, and Honorable Mention
All-State.

Laura DeFew
6-1, SR, Kuttawa, KY, Forward, Doug Phelps, High School Coach
She is relentless and never quits...comes in early and stays late...will
be a major player in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's outstanding front line...physical, fundamentally
sound and has an excellent shooting touch...excellent player who will have
her best season ever at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ...trouble for the TranSouth Conference and
post players in the national tournament...led the team in free-throw percentage
during the 1995-96 season...prepped at Lyon County High School where she
averaged 18 points and 10.4 rebounds per game...was a four-time All-District
and All-Conference selection...three-time All-Region and Honorable Mention
All-State.

Marquetta Hunt
5-9, SR, Huntingdon, TN, Forward, Farris Lowery, High School Coach
Named to the NAIA Academic All-American team...friendly, intelligent, articulate
and determined...intense competitor and very strong physically...has an excellent
shooting touch and a great rebounder...has been a very good player at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ
but like the winner she is, there is one more goal she wished at accomplish
for her team-a national championship...led the Lady Bulldogs in field goal
percentage during the 1995-96 season...ranked third in rebounding...prepped
at Huntingdon High School where she averaged 21.4 points and 7.6 rebounds
per game...was a three-time All-District, two-time All-Region, and All-State
performer.

Dion Thornton
6-3, SO, Jackson, TN, Forward, Sandra Fitzgerald, High School Coach
A courageous young lady full of potential...on the verge of becoming a great
player...coming off her second knee surgery, many people thought she would
give up the game, but she has set goals for herself...desires a college
education, to be the best post player in the conference and to help her
team...motivated to come back better than ever...if she can aim her energy
at achieving her dream, she will be unstoppable...could possibly set new
school records in the category of blocks...ranked third on last year's team
in rebounding...prepped locally at Jackson Central Merry High School where
she averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game...selected to All-District,
All-Region, and All-State teams...also earned athletic honors in volleyball
and track.

Tara Lee
5-5, SO, Murfreesboro, TN, Guard, Jennifer Grandstaff, High School Coach
Begins her sophomore year a better shooter and a smarter player due to her
hard work and dedication...recovering from a summer ankle injury...is rehabing
with the same desire and determination that led her to the Lady
Bulldogs...knowledge gained through experience and her work ethic will make
her an important cog in the "big red" machine this season...prepped at Oakland
High School in Murfreesboro where she was voted All-County, All-District,
and All-Region.

April Pearson
5-6, FR, Lexington, TN, Guard, Harlan Fesmire, High School Coach
Was Miss Everything in Lexington's bid for state tournament recognition...a
great shooter but her greatest assets are her ability to pass and her tremendous
quickness...many say she is a taller version of former Lady Dog, Latisha
Beamus ...will provide great entertainment for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ boosters and fans...prepped
at Lexington High School where she averaged 19.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and
6 assists per game...three time All-West Tennessee, All-State performer,
and was named Honorable Mention to the USA Today team...led her team to the
state finals at Lexington.

Leslie Henderson
5-10, FR, Bartlett, TN, Guard, Lynn Whitfield, High School Coach
Has as much talent as any player to come to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ...a very intelligent student
and an All-State player...brings a great mixture of size, agility, and basketball
skills to join a great freshman class...prepped at Bartlett High School where
she was not only a standout in basketball but volleyball as well...averaged
16 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady Panthers...named All-District, District
All Tournament team, and Best of the Preps All-Metro team.

5-6, FR, Jackson, TN, Guard, Steve Patterson, High School Coach
Comes to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ from South Side High School where she excelled in nearly every
category her senior year...a great shooter but also has the ability to get
the ball to open teammates...a hard worker and a great addition to a great
freshman class...prepped at South Side High School where she averaged 19
points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game...scored over 1,200 points in
her high school career.

Comes to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as the point guard off the Jackson Central Merry state
championship team...is fast, intelligent, and sees the floor extremely
well...will be a tremendous addition to the overall quickness of the Lady
Bulldogs...prepped locally at JCM where she graduated fifth in her
class...carried a 4.0 grade point average while being a three-sport
athlete-softball, volleyball, and basketball...named All- District, All-Region,
All-State, and Honorable Mention All-West Tennessee as well as the All-District
Academic team.

Has a tremendous desire to obtain an American education and to help the Lady
Bulldogs win basketball games...has a great shooting touch and the ability
to run the floor well for a post player...extremely mobile on defense and
should help the overall defensive scheme of the Lady Bulldogs...a mature
young lady who will also add stability to a very young Lady Bulldog team.

6-0, FR, Memphis, TN, Forward, Liz Marable, High School Coach
Memphis' Best of the Best...will be a great asset to the Lady Bulldogs...a
very mobile player with a good shooting touch and the God-given talent for
rebounding...coached by former Lady Bulldog Liz Marable...fans and boosters
will come to love Celestine for her work ethic and great personality...prepped
at Kingsbury High School where she averaged 24.2 points and 17.6 rebounds
per game...earned numerous honors including Street and Smith's Pre-Season
All-American team, Best of the Preps Basketball Award, named All-State,
All-District, All-Region, and All-City.
