Jackson, TN--Marcus Price, a native of Ellisville, Mississippi, will be joining the 1997-98 men's basketball program at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. Price will come to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a junior after playing one year at Southern Mississippi. The 6-0 guard has earned numerous honors throughout his basketball career including McDonald's All-American and Street and Smith's All-American.
The 1993 graduate of South James High School in Mississippi is the all-time leading scorer at South James. He also holds school records for three-point field goals in a single game, free throw percentage, and three-point field goal percentage. As a sophomore at Southern Mississippi, Price led his team in three-point field goal percentage while ranking second in Conference USA .
According to head coach Ralph Turner, "Marcus has tremendous quickness and great offensive skills which will make everybody on the team better. He also has extraordinary work ethic and loves to play defense which are two things that will improve this year's team."
