DANNY GILES TRANSFERS TO UNION

Jackson, TN--Former North Side standout Danny Giles has decided to transfer to play baseball at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University next season. Giles, a 6-1 infielder, played the past two seasons for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. In 1998 Giles hit .256 with three doubles, three homeruns, and 10 RBI's in 34 games. The Razorbacks finished the 1998 season with a 38-21 record. During the 1997 season Giles started in 31 games for the Razorbacks at shortstop while hitting .278 with five doubles, one homerun and 13 RBI's.

While at North Side High School, Giles was named a USA Today All- American, all-state, and a two-time all-district player. Giles also earned Player of the Year awards in both his junior and senior seasons with the Indians. Giles was selected in the 1996 amateur baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies in the 30th round.
