UNION PLAYERS EARN HONORS

Jackson, TN--Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University softball player, Tina Spivey, and baseball player, Ed Grammer, were both recognized this week for their accomplishments on the field. Junior pitcher Tina Spivey was named TranSouth Pitcher of the Week while senior pitcher Ed Grammer was named NCCAA Student Athlete of the Week as well as TranSouth Pitcher of the Week.

Spivey, a graduate of Southaven High School, was 4-0 on the week which included a victory over No. 14 Lipscomb University. Spivey only gave up three earned runs in 26 innings for an earned run average of .81 and had 28 strikeouts. Spivey is presently 13-4 on the season with a 1.42 ERA.

Grammer, a graduate of Ripley High School, pitched two complete games for two victories including a one-hitter against Belmont University for the Bulldogs last week. Grammer had 18 strikeouts in 14 innings giving up only 2 earned runs and 6 hits for an ERA of 1.28. On the season Grammer is presently 5-1 with a 2.88 ERA and ranks third in the starting rotation in strikeouts.
