UNION'S SOFTBALL PLAYERS EARN CONFERENCE HONORS

Jackson, TN--The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University softball program had two players earn honors this week. Chanda Franks, a junior outfielder from Savannah, Tennessee, earned TranSouth Conference Player of the week honors for March 15-22, 1998. Franks hit .778 on the week (14-for-18) with five runs, four doubles, a triple, and a homerun while driving in 14 runs.

Lynde Capogreco was named TranSouth Conference Pitcher of the Week. The senior pitcher from Herrin, Illinois, earned a 4-0 record for the week. In 24 innings, Capogreco gave up no runs and only four hits to earn herself a 0.00 earned run average for the week. Capogreco threw a no-hitter against Huntingdon College and threw two one-hitters on the week. Capogreco struck out 45 batters and only walked two in her 24 innings pitched.
