Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Michelle Street Named Player of the Year

October 14, 1996 - Jackson, TN--Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Michelle Street has been named NAIA Division I women's basketball Player of the Year in the November issue of College Sports Magazine. The 5-9 senior also earned the honor of being named as a first team All- American.

Street helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 34-4 season record, a conference title, and the Final Four of the 1996 NAIA Women's Basketball Championship Tournament. Street led the Lady Bulldogs in three categories throughout the 1995-96 season including scoring, assists and steals. Street averaged 16.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. In addition to outstanding statistics, Street was named All-TCAC for the third year, NAIA All-American for the second year, and named to the NAIA All- Tournament Team at the national tournament.

Along with Street, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women's team has been named in two pre-season polls. In the NAIA Division I pre-season polls, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was named the number two team in the country behind Southern Nazarene (OK) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was chosen the number one team in the country in College Sports Magazine's pre-season poll.NAIA Statistics Released
