Great coffee. Good company. Modero and Barefoots are two of the places that make everyday life at Â鶹ÊÓƵ something worth savoring.

Barefoots

Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives and in our cultural histories begin with small, often unexpected conversations. On a university campus, many of us can attest to major ideas catching hold in the briefest moments – a quick conversation in the doorway between classes, a single sentence from a chapel speaker, a lingering question posed by a professor, an intentional or happenstance meeting over coffee. We are well aware of the power of conversations which carry across the lunch tables or dorm rooms or conference tables. It is for the very purpose of fostering these natural conversations that we have cultivated and maintained Barefoots. In a university setting where ideas and implications are being readily explored, we find it important and necessary for all parties – students, faculty, and staff – to have a relaxed and welcoming place where these ideas may be further discussed, delineated, debated and defended.

To add to these conversations, we bring to campus music, film, and art that present an important voice in our society. We hope that, just as in the classroom, each event will lead to thoughtful discussion instead of simplistic forms of acceptance or rejection. Always, we aim to show hospitality and true dialogue with those we host on campus.

Behind the coffee counter, you will discover that we care a great deal about the products we serve to our patrons.

Modero

To everything, there is a time: a time to work and a time to rest, a time to make haste and a time to pause. Modero exists to create interludes for our guests to recoup, reflect, savor a drink, and converse. We seek to cultivate space for the slow work of perspective and presence. We hope you’ll join us.

Modero, a specialty coffee shop and cafe located in The Logos library, offers a wide menu of coffee and non-coffee drinks and a rotating selection of artisan foods.

We source and roast all coffees and espresso through our long-time roaster, Levi Hartsfield, who moved to Texas to open up Tag Coffee, an online based coffee company. Levi joined our team in 2012 and served for six years as our roaster, trainer, and consultant. He developed the coffee and espresso standards of our shops and is an integral part of who we are today. We are excited to offer Tag Coffee in our shops, since we know (through experience), Levi’s mission to source high quality coffees from around the world and to roast them in such a way that these coffees are brought to their highest potential. In addition to roasting quality coffee, Tag seeks to be a company of “radical giving,” so when you purchase their coffee, 50% of the profits will be donated to children’s shelters in the San Antonio area.
