UNION FACULTY MEMBER AND STUDENT WIN FIRST PLACE IN CHEMISTRY COMPETITION

Jackson, Tenn. — Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Jimmy Davis, Executive Director of Institutional Research and professor of Chemistry, and Tim Rogers, a senior chemistry major, received first place in the chemistry division of the 107th meeting of the Tennessee Academy of Science on Nov. 21.

The poster was titled "Properties of Seven-Coordinate Pentagonal Bipyramidal Mn(II) and Ni(II) Complexes." Davis and Rogers did research this summer that the project was based on.

Jimmy Davis received his bachelor's degree from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University and his doctorate from the University of Florida. He has been a member of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's faculty since 1978. Tim Rogers is a senior Chemistry major.
