Jackson, Tenn. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ `s Computer Science Program recently received recognition at the Mid-South East ACM Fall Conference held in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Jan Wilms, assistant professor of Math and Computer Science at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University, made a presentation titled "A Practical Project in JAVA to Teach Client/ Server Programming," and served as a judge for master and Ph.D. presentations. He and Emily Dunn, also an assistant professor of Math and Computer Science at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, chaired one of the undergraduate/ professional sessions at the conference.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ senior, Eddie Childers from Oakland, Tenn., presented "PC Security and Virus Protection," and won third place for best undergraduate paper. Other seniors who made presentations include: Josh Duggin and Allison Smith of Jackson, Tenn., "Development of a Pilot Internet Implementation;" Johnny Earnest of Huron, Tenn., "Implementation of the JAVA Database and Connectivity API;" Micah Merrilat of Evansville, Ind., "Automating Employee Time Cards and Reports Using JAVA;" Matthew Walker of Columbia, Mo., "Developing a Hospital Internet Web Site and Intranet System."
