Jackson, Tenn. Julian Williamson, an instructor in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Communication Arts Department, has received recognition for his film, "The Hatchie River."
The film, which premiered at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on April 17, 1997, has been awarded a certificate of merit from the Rochester International Film Festival in Rochester, N.Y. and third place in the Outdoor Category at the Smoky Mountain/Nantahala Film Festival in Nantahala, N.C.
The film explores the relationships among Williamson, his family, and a meandering West Tennessee wetland river and was completed in fulfillment of the Master of Arts Degree in Communication at the University of Memphis.
Williamson graduated from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. He received his master's degree from the University of Memphis. Williamson has been a faculty member at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ since 1990.
