Jackson, Tenn. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Office of Sports Information was recently recognized for three of its athletic publications during a recent meeting of the NAIA-SIDA (Sports Information Directors of America) in New Orleans, La.
The Lady Bulldog's Basketball media guide placed first in the NAIA-SIDA brochure contest. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ sports web site (located at ) placed third and the baseball media guide placed 7th in the competition.
Julie Powell, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Sports Information Director, is responsible for all athletic publications of the University. "This is just another example of the quality athletic department we have at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ," she said. "Being able to produce quality brochures is made simple through the success of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's athletics. The more ways we can get Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's name out to areas other than West Tennessee, the better chance we have of drawing outstanding students and athletes."
Powell, a 1989 graduate of Munford High School, received the bachelor's of science degree in physical education and health from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University in 1993 and the master's of education degree from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in 1994. She taught math and science at Bradford High School before coming to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as SID, intramural director and part-time faculty member in 1995.
