Jackson, Tenn. –
July 10, 2000 – Â鶹ÊÓƵ University has announced that legendary
game show host, Tom Kennedy, will match one of the communications
scholarships offered to Â鶹ÊÓƵ upperclassmen by the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Broadcasting
Society and will bear Kennedy's name. The society is the student broadcast
organization at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
For
the past year, Kennedy, a veteran of more than 16 game shows, including
"Name That Tune," "Password Plus," and "You Don't
Say," has viewed Â鶹ÊÓƵ students' production of the game show
"I've Heard That Song!" and has offered advice and critiques.
"Today I find myself being honored by having my name attached to a
scholarship fund to be called "The Tom Kennedy Broadcasting
Scholarship, a cloak I am unused to," said Kennedy, when told of the
naming. "To parody a song title of yore - I am betwitched, flattered
and beholden."
The first-year award this fall will be divided between two
upperclassmen-rank students.
