| Jackson, Tenn. - The
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Symphonic Band will highlight in its
spring concert, special guest soloist Greg Luscombe,
trombonist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. The
special event will be held Thursday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.
in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel of the Penick
Academic Complex. Luscombe will be performing a trombone concerto by Swedish composer Lars Erik Larssen and the famous virtuoso variations on the "Blue Bells of Scotland." The 45-member Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. David McClune, professor of music at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. The band will perform the "First Suite for Band" by Holst and "Carmina Burana," by Carl Orff. "People should take advantage of this delightful concert and relax on a late spring evening at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ," McClune said. The concert is free and open to the public.
