Alumna returns to perform at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ

Jackson, Tenn. - Joye Johnson will perform a voice recital at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University, March 18. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Recital Hall in the Penick Academic Complex.

Johnson graduated from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in 1997 with a bachelor of music in vocal performance. "Johnson was an extremely active vocal performance major while she was at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ," Dr. Andrew Roby, associate professor of music and department chair of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, said. Johnson was a member of Proclamation, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Singers and the Opera Workshop. She also took part in many of the theatrical performances with the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Players.

Johnson is currently at the University of Nebraska completing a master's in vocal performance. She will be graduating from the university in May 1999. Johnson is still active in her vocal performance field. A member of the graduate assistantship program at the University of Nebraska, Johnson serves as assistant to the director of opera.

Johnson is also playing a leading role in Mozart's opera, "Cosi fan tutti."
