| Jackson, Tenn. - Joye Johnson will perform a voice
recital at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University, March 18. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's
Recital Hall in the Penick Academic Complex. Johnson graduated from Â鶹ÊÓƵ in 1997 with
a bachelor of music in vocal performance. "Johnson was an extremely active vocal
performance major while she was at Â鶹ÊÓƵ," Dr. Andrew Roby, associate professor of
music and department chair of Â鶹ÊÓƵ, said. Johnson was a member of Proclamation, Â鶹ÊÓƵ
University Singers and the Opera Workshop. She also took part in many of the theatrical
performances with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ University Players.
Johnson is currently at the University of Nebraska completing a master's in vocal
performance. She will be graduating from the university in May 1999. Johnson is still
active in her vocal performance field. A member of the graduate assistantship program at
the University of Nebraska, Johnson serves as assistant to the director of opera.
Johnson is also playing a leading role in Mozart's opera, "Cosi fan tutti."
