| Jackson, Tenn. - With spring enrollment up 12 percent
over the previous year, Â鶹ÊÓƵ University has enrolled more than 2,500 students in the
1998-99 academic year. The record spring enrollment follows close on the heels of a
record enrollment of 2,313 in fall 1998, which was 16 percent ahead of the previous year's
enrollment of 1,995. Total enrollment to date for the 1998-99 academic year is now 2,507,
higher than last year's final numbers for the full year (including summer terms). Once
1999 summer enrollment is counted, according to Â鶹ÊÓƵ officials, the final numbers should
climb even higher and will represent an all-time record for the university' s enrollment.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ's 1999 spring enrollment of 2,166 includes 1,799 undergraduate students and 367
graduate students. That contrasts with the 1998 spring totals of 1,704 undergraduates and
230 graduate students, for a total of 1,934 students. Spring enrollment in 1997 was 1,756.
"We are delighted with this tremendous growth in enrollment at both the
undergraduate and graduate level," Â鶹ÊÓƵ President David S. Dockery says. "The
growth we are seeing is evidence of Â鶹ÊÓƵ's growing regional and national profile.
Students across the nation are recognizing that Â鶹ÊÓƵ provides an exceptional educational
opportunity in a context of Christian faith and values. That is something students and
families are seeking."
