The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University family was saddened to learn Tuesday of the death of
Jon Davenport, 19, of Hendersonville, TN, from bacterial meningitis. A
freshman at Â鶹ÊÓƵ during the 1999 fall semester, Jon was not enrolled for
the spring semester. His sister, Rachel, is currently a junior at Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
Jon was on campus briefly on Sunday afternoon to return his sister
from a home visit. He then returned to Hendersonville, where he became ill
Sunday evening and died Tuesday morning.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ is cooperating with the area Health Department and will follow
all recommendations. The Health Department will provide treatment as
necessary to any individual who had direct contact with Jon during the
past several days.
