UNION LEADS CENTRIFUGE PREREGISTRATION, MISSIONS-GIVING
Jackson, Tenn. — Beginning its 11th year as a host to Centrifuge, Â鶹ÊÓƵ University exceeds 15 summer camp sites with the largest number of preregistered campers.
Registration numbers for the Summer 1997 Centrifuge camps show Â鶹ÊÓƵ with 3,418 preregistered campers – the most of all Centrifuge camp sites. Â鶹ÊÓƵ, located in Jackson, Tenn., holds 8 week-long camps each summer wtih a total capacity of about 6,000.
In 1996 Â鶹ÊÓƵ University led in the total contribution to foreign missions of 15 Centrifuge and Crosspoint sites across the U.S.
Linn Stranak, Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Centrifuge director, explained that Centrifuge and Crosspoint sites collect weekly offerings that are given to the Southern Baptist Convention for foreign missions. "Â鶹ÊÓƵ led the way in mission offerings by collecting a grand total of $33,551.11," Stranak said.
Centrifuge is a week-long camp experience for youth grades 7-12, which challenges students to a new and deeper relationship with Christ. The camp incorporates a teenager's need for activity, fellowship and spiritual growth with the desire to learn.
