Head Coach
Brian Dunn
Brian Dunn begins his ninth season as head softball coach at
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Last season, Coach Dunn led the Lady Bulldogs to their fifth NAIA World
Series appearance in six years and also led the Lady Bulldogs to their third
NCCAA National Championship in four seasons (2001, 2002, 2004).
Coach Dunn has led the Lady Bulldogs softball program to a
404-92 record over the past eight years. During his tenure, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ softball accomplished five
straight seasons (1998-2002) with 50-plus wins, including 63 wins in 2001.
Under Dunn's watch, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has also posted seven
straight Top 10 rankings in the NAIA. The Lady Bulldogs have earned six
TranSouth Conference Championships, four conference tournament championships,
four NAIA Region XI Championships, three NCCAA National Championships (2001,
2002, 2004), and five
NAIA World Series appearances (third place finish in 2001).
In addition to coaching a top-ranked softball program, Dunn has
guided the Lady bulldogs Volleyball program to a 243-62 record over its first
seven seasons (inaugural season was 1998). This season, Dunn led the volleyball
to the TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament championships.
He also guided the 2004 volleyball team to their first ever NAIA Region XI
Championship and also to the schools first ever volleyball NAIA National
Tournament appearance (top 10 finish). In the short seven-year history, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s
volleyball program has won three TranSouth regular season championships, two
conference tournament championship, and six straight NCCAA MidEast Region
Titles (1998-2003). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ captured the 2003 NCCAA National Volleyball Championship and
finished runner-up in 2001.
During his eight-year tenure at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Dunn has coached 73
all-conference, 49 all-region, 26 All-American, and 27 scholar athlete award
winners. Included in that list are six TranSouth Conference Pitchers of the
Year, seven TranSouth Players of the Year, seven NAIA region Pitchers of the
Year, two NAIA Region XI Players of the Year, one NAIA National Pitcher of the Year, and one NFCA-NAIA National Catcher
of the Year.
Dunn has earned 28 Coach of the Year awards, including being
named the NCCAA National Coach of the year five times (1998-sb, 2001-sb,
2002-sb, 2003-vb, 2004-sb). He
served as the TranSouth Conference Softball Chairman for six years and is
currently serving a term as the NAIA Region XI Chair and national rater.
Brian is a 1989 graduate of San Diego State University, where he
helped lead the baseball team to a Western Athletic Conference Championship and
a Top 25 national ranking. His coaching career began at Riverside High School in
Parsons, Tennessee where he guided the Lady Panther softball team to their first
ever appearance in the state tournament.
Brian Dunn is married to the former Emily Garrett, a 1986
graduate of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. They have two daughters, Addison Grace(6) and Ashlee Claire(4).
Student Assistant
Amy Mejia
Amy Mejia is in her first season as a student assistant coach
for volleyball/softball. She joins the coaching staff after completing a very
successful three-year career for the Lady Bulldog softball team. Mejia hails
from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Mejia transferred to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ after her freshman season at McNeese
State Community College. While at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, she was named NAIA All-American as a
sophomore. She was also a three-time TranSouth All-Conference performer and a
two-time NAIA Region XI performer.
Mejia prepped at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ High School where she helped lead her
team to the 1999 Class 6A State Championship. She was named to the 1999
All-State Team.
