Before Â鶹ÊÓƵ: Lay played four seasons as a point guard at Trinity Christian Academy for Coach Ken Northcut. He was a named All-District Tournament as a sophomore and senior. Lay added All-District and All-Region honors as a junior and senior. He was also named All-Region Tournament and All-West Tennessee as a senior. Lay is a member of the 1,000-point club at Trinity. He averaged 12.6 points per game as a senior and shot 79-percent from the free throw line. Off the court, Lay was a member of the Beta Club and was voted Freshman Class President.
