JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/18/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs topped Lyon College (Ark.) 5-0 on Tuesday night in a TranSouth Conference match. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Caitlin Zimmerman scored three goals to help lead the team offensively. With the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in TranSouth play. Lyon dropped to 3-4-1 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead thanks to the quick striking power of Caitlin Zimmerman. Her goals in the fourth and ninth minutes gave Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ a comfortable lead. Jill Landers and Brooke Walker assisted Zimmerman on her two goals. Nikki Burau added the team's third goal of the first half with a score at teh 30 mintue mark.
The second half saw Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tack on two more goals, one by Zimmerman and the final goal of the night by Abigail Williams. Walker recorded her second assist of the night.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goalie Laura Pla, who was just named the TranSouth Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, recorded the shutout with 10 saves on the night.
