JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/17/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University cross country teams opened their season at the Vanderbilt Commodore Cross Country Classic in Nashville. On the men’s side, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ freshman Henry Rop won the overall title among all divisions. The women’s team posted a ninth place overall finish and first place among NAIA schools. Junior Lydia Bond led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with a 39th overall finish and first place among NAIA schools.
The men had just four runners to compete in the event due to injuries, therefore, did not qualify for a team finish. However, the four Bulldogs made an impressive showing following the lead of Rop’s first place finish. Seth Covington placed 37th, Phillip Thompson was 56th, and Steve Bredfeldt was 103rd.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Lady Bulldogs started the season strong with Bond leading the way in No. 39 position. Freshman Kayla Hauss was 47th, Candace Cross was 57th, Erika Schnatterly was 79th, Charley Moss was 94th, and Ellen Bone was 124th.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the first Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Cross Country Invitational to be ran this coming Satuday, September 22 on the campus of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. The men will run at 10:00 am with the women’s race to follow at 10:30 am.
