Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Sweeps Trevecca In Soccer Double-Header

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/11/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs completed a sweep of Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win by the Lady Bulldogs and a 2-1 victory for the men. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs moved to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the TranSouth. The men improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

The women score in the 18th minute of play by way of an own goal from Trevecca Nazarene. The Lady Bulldogs wouldn't look back as they scored goals from Caitlin Zimmerman at the 24th minute to go up 2-0 at the break. Cara Pasley and Zimmerman each added goals in the second half to pull away for the win. Laura Pla recorded six saves on the night for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Katelin Dirksen and Zimmerman also recorded assists for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

On the men's side, it was much closer. The game was scoreless until the 67th minute of play when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ senior Scott Sinclair rattled home a goal to give Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ the lead. A second goal for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ would prove to be the game winner. It was tallied by senior Kyle Sanders just 10 minutes later in the contest. Following a late foul by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Trevecca's Mark Foster bent a shot just inside the left post in the 87th minute to put the Trojans on the board. In the final seconds of play, Trevecca managed to get inside the box four one final shot to tie the game, but the third save of the night for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goalie Chris Lean, secured the win. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ got an assist in the match from Wagner Oliveira.
