JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/24/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldog soccer team has signed another player for the upcoming season. , a standout player form Habersham, Georgia, will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as a freshman and will major in either Business Law or Sports Medicine.
Haynes is excited about her future at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. "It's a Christian school and a high academic school." Haynes adds that, "It's a young program (3rd year of varsity competition) and I have a chance to be involved in helping build it where it's a well-known program."
Haynes, a 5-foot-10 forward, prepped at Habersham Central High School where she played soccer and basketball. She helped her team reach the region playoffs in 2006. As a freshman, Haynes set a school record with 19 goals in a season and was named the Best Offensive Player. The next season as a sophomore, she broke her own record with 21 goals in a season and posted a 12-game scoring streak in the process. Haynes again led the team in goals as a junior and was named the Best Offensive Player for the third straight season. After a senior year in which she was named Team Captain, Haynes finished her career with a school record 70 goals in her four years.
Joey Elger, the high school coach of Haynes, states, "Jamie is a fantastic person. She's a great student and she's is the leader of the best women's soccer class we've ever had."
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach Brandon Boylan states, "Jamie is a great addition to our program and school. She has proven to be a great scorer at every level she has played. Jamie will represent this team and our university very well. We are pleased she has choosen to be a part of our program."
Off the field, Haynes was a member of the National Honor Society and was voted secretary of the senior class.
