Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Walters Named Region Player of the Year, Hoffman, Albonetti Honored

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/9/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldog softball continues to receive honors as their 2007 season has rolled into the NAIA Region XI Tournament. Ashley Walters was named the Region XI Player of the Year. Brandi Hoffman joined Walters as a first team All-Region performer. Michelle Albonetti was named to the All-Region second team.

, a 5-foot-8 junior from Rockville, Indiana, earned this region honor after being named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Year last week. Walters led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with a .468 batting average. She tallied a team-high 80 hits, 56 runs, 17 doubles, and six triples. Her 10 homeruns place second on the team, as did her 50 RBI.

, a 5-foot-8 junior from Glidden, Iowa, followed her first team All-Conference honor with yet another first team selection. Hoffman led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 13 homeruns and 57 RBI while hitting .342. She is currently second place in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record books with 13 homeruns this season. Hoffman needs just one more homerun to tie the single season record of 14. She has helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ set the team record for homeruns in the season for the third straight year.

, a 5-foot-7 sophomore from Cordova, Tennessee, was second on the team with a .434 batting average. She was second wth 59 hits and also recorded nine doubles. Albonetti was also named a first team All-Conference performer.
